The Mood Swings

The Mood Swings are a female-fronted fuzzpop band from Minneapolis. Formed in 2004 by guitarists/singers Ashley Ackerson and Sallie Watson, the band writes sharp, catchy tunes with a hard garage edge and a bit of psychedelic mayhem thrown in. The band has released two albums and EP on the Susstones label, and they’ve been blowing minds and speakers with their live show around the Midwest. Ashley and Sallie, along with bassist Ed Ackerson and drummer Mike Reiter, are taking garage pop in their own direction, using whatever means necessary to leave a groovy ring in the ears of the listener.

Originally formed to compete in the annual Cover Song Contest at famed Minneapolis rock club First Avenue in Jan. of 2005, The Electric Light (no) Orchestra has taken a life of its own due to the world’sunquenchable thirst for hearing such gems as “Living Thing” and “Mr. Blue Sky” in a live rock setting. Members of Accident Clearinghouse, Manplanet, Detroit, and Billy Johnson’s Roadshow unite beneath six giant afro wigs and six pairs of cheap sunglasses as six Jeff Lynnes and spread the good vibes “All Over The World!”

Mark Mallman works as a professional composer for film by day, mostly doing music for major motion picture trailers, such as Wall-E, 10,000 BC and Vacancy. Mallman is well-known for his shows Marathon 1 and Marathon 2. Marathon 1 was the nonstop 26.2-hour performance of a single song in 1999 at the Turf Club in St. Paul, Minnesota. Marathon 2 was the nonstop 52.4-hour performance of a single song, double the length of Marathon 1, reportedly comprising more than 600 pages of lyrics. It started on September 4, 2004, at the Turf Club and ended at 10:24 p.m. CST September 6.

Known in his home country’s independent music community for being a singer-songwriter (other projects include Calvin Krime & Sean Na Na), Sean Tillmann is known in the UK indie rock/dance scene recording and performing as R&B alter ego Har Mar Superstar. Har Mar Superstar is a character who bears several physical and behavioral similarities to porn star Ron Jeremy; he is chubby (though he has slimmed down considerably as his stage shows and frequent touring have become more physically demanding), he often performs his shows nearly nude, and appears obsessed with his own sexual prowess.
